Continuity of Care with Guided By You Midwifery
Birth is a deeply personal experience, and your choices matter.
One of the most special aspects of my service is that I work with you from beginning to end. I am the only midwife you'll see throughout your care, which means we have the chance to build a meaningful, trusting relationship that makes a real difference to your experience.
Choosing a midwife you feel comfortable with is an important part of that relationship. Read more here about why you might choose me as your private midwife.
Continuity of care not only creates a safer and more comfortable experience, but it allows me to support you in a truly personal way, whether you're planning a home birth, hoping for a calm hospital birth, exploring your antenatal care options or thinking about the support you may need during your postnatal recovery, continuity of care means having someone alongside you who already knows you and your journey.
I know your story, your preferences, and what matters to you, and I carry that knowledge with me through every stage of your journey.
What continuity of care means for you:
-
The same midwife at every single appointment, no strangers at your most vulnerable moments
-
A midwife who truly knows you, your birth plan, and your wishes
-
Consistent, evidence-based guidance throughout pregnancy, birth, and beyond
-
Someone who notices changes, remembers your concerns, and follows things through
-
A trusted relationship built from our very first appointment, not just during labour
-
Informed guidance if you're feeling unsure or want to explore your options
-
Support creating a plan that reflects your needs, values, and wishes
If you're feeling unsure or want to explore your options in more detail, I offer gentle, informed guidance to help you feel confident and prepared.
My holistic approach to continuity of care is about getting to know the whole of you, helping you feel safe, heard and truly cared for. The trust and familiarity we build together creates an environment that supports your natural oxytocin and physiology of birth.
If you simply want to find out more, feel more informed, feel more confident and more in control of your care, I'll support you every step of the way.
If you'd like to know more about the experiences and values that have shaped me as a midwife, you can read more about my philosophy of care and the midwife behind Guided By You Midwifery.
You can also read how my clients have described their own experience of continuity of care with me. For some families, that relationship continues into their next pregnancy, with the same midwife beside them as their family grows.
I'm based in Waltham Abbey, Essex and provide private midwifery continuity of care for families across London, Essex, and Hertfordshire, I'd love to be part of your journey.

Continuity of Care: Your Questions Answered
What does "continuity of care" actually mean?
It means you have care from one midwife, me, throughout your entire pregnancy, birth, and postnatal period, rather than seeing a different person at every appointment. I get to know you, your history, and your wishes in depth, so care feels personal rather than repeated from scratch each time.
Why does continuity of care matter?
Research consistently shows that continuity of carer improves outcomes and experience, families feel more supported, more listened to, and more confident. Because I already know you well by the time you're in labour, there's no need to explain your situation to someone new at the most important moment.
Will you be there for the birth itself?
Yes, that's the heart of continuity of care, I'm with you for antenatal appointments, the birth, and postnatal care afterwards. You're not handed between different professionals at each stage.
What if you're unavailable when I go into labour?
While I aim to be there personally for every birth, I have backup arrangements in place with trusted colleagues for rare situations where I'm not available, so you're never left without experienced support.
How is this different from standard NHS care?
NHS care often means seeing different midwives across different appointments and shifts. With continuity of care, it's just me, one relationship, one point of contact, from early pregnancy right through to your postnatal support. You can also choose to continue care with me alongside your NHS care.
Does continuity of care cost more?
It reflects the personalised, one-to-one nature of the care, longer appointments, direct access to me, and consistent support throughout. I'm happy to talk through pricing and what's included on an initial call.
Do you offer continuity of care across London, Essex, and Hertfordshire?
Yes, I provide private midwifery continuity of care to families across London, Essex & Hertfordshire, offering personalised support throughout pregnancy, birth & the postnatal period.
Can I contact you between appointments
100% yes you can. I am always happy to be contacted between appointments, I am available by phone, text or Whatsapp for all of my clients.
