Stay connected, feel supported.
Never feel like you are navigating pregnancy alone
WhatsApp Support Throughout Your Pregnancy
Pregnancy questions don't always wait until your next appointment. With Guided By You Midwifery, WhatsApp gives you and your birth partner a familiar, easy way to stay connected with me throughout your pregnancy.
Keeping You Both Involved
When you book ongoing care with me, we can have a dedicated midwife WhatsApp group for you, your birth partner and me.
Pregnancy doesn't only affect the person carrying the baby. Partners often have their own questions, worries and things they'd like explained, and I want them to feel comfortable asking me too.
Having a shared WhatsApp group means your partner can be part of the conversation, with your agreement. They can ask questions themselves, and when one of you asks something, you can both see my response.
It helps everyone stay informed and reduces the need for you to remember and repeat conversations afterwards. And sometimes partners think of the question that you hadn't even thought to ask!
Support Between Appointments
Questions can crop up after an appointment, later that evening or several days afterwards.
Rather than having to make a note and remember to ask me next time, you can send your question through the group.
Not every question needs an appointment. Sometimes you simply need information, reassurance or to know whether something is worth discussing further.
WhatsApp doesn't replace appropriate clinical assessment or urgent maternity care, but it gives you a familiar way of staying connected with me between appointments.
Voice Notes Are Welcome Too
You don't always have to type out a message. I'm very happy for you or your birth partner to send me voice notes through WhatsApp, particularly when something feels easier to explain by talking it through.
I use voice notes myself too. If you ask me a question and I can respond sooner with a quick voice message rather than waiting until I'm able to sit down and type a detailed reply, that's often what I'll do.
Sometimes hearing a familiar voice explaining something can be much more reassuring than reading a message on a screen. It's another simple way of keeping our communication personal, relaxed and accessible throughout your care.
Introducing Your Second Midwife
If a second midwife is going to be involved in supporting your birth, you'll normally meet her at around 36 weeks.
With your agreement, she can then be added to our WhatsApp group.
This means she can become familiar with the conversations we're having, understand your plans and preferences and begin getting to know you and your family before your birth.
For me, that's another small but important part of providing genuine continuity of care.
Care That Doesn't End When an Appointment Does
Midwifery is about much more than the time we spend together at scheduled appointments.
Getting to know you, understanding what's important to you, involving your birth partner if that's what you want and being available for those questions that crop up along the way are all part of the relationship we build.
That's what Guided By You means to me: professional midwifery care that remains personal, connected and centred around you.
