Home Birth with Guided By You Midwifery
Welcoming your baby at home can be one of the most calm, empowering experiences of your life, and with the right support, it can be safe, personal, and deeply positive.
I offer full one-to-one midwifery care for families choosing to birth at home, including those planning a Home Birth After Caesarean (HBAC) or birthing outside of standard guidelines. Whatever your situation, you deserve care that respects your choices and keeps you and your baby safe.
Unlike NHS care where you may meet a different midwife at every appointment, with me you get true continuity of care, the same midwife getting to know you, your wishes, and your birth plan from the very beginning.

I work alongside you to honour the natural rhythm of your labour, while making sure you and your baby are safe and well cared for at every stage. Being in your own environment can help you feel calm, in control, and truly supported, creating an environment that supports your natural oxytocin and the physiology of birth, which is exactly what I'm there to help you achieve.
Even when you're planning a home birth, I recommend having a hospital bag packed and ready in case we need to transfer to hospital during labour or after your baby is born.
If a transfer to hospital becomes necessary, I will be with you every step of the way, ensuring you never feel alone or without support.
I'm based in Waltham Abbey, Essex and provide home birth midwifery care across London, Essex, and Hertfordshire, I'd love to be part of your journey.

Home Birth: Your Questions Answered
Is a home birth safe?
For low-risk pregnancies, home birth is a safe option, and evidence shows outcomes are comparable to hospital birth for straightforward pregnancies. I also support families whose pregnancies fall outside standard guidelines, we'll talk through your individual circumstances in detail so you can make a fully informed choice. I carry out ongoing risk assessments throughout your pregnancy and birth to make sure home birth remains the right decision for you.
Can I have a home birth if I've been told I'm "higher risk"?
Being outside standard guidelines doesn't automatically rule out a home birth. Many factors are individual, and what matters most is having an honest, thorough conversation about your specific situation so you can make the choice that's right for you and your baby. I'll always be transparent with you about risks and options.
What happens if there are concerns for me or baby during a home birth?
I'm trained to recognise and manage complications, and I carry the equipment needed to respond quickly. If a transfer to hospital is needed, I arrange this without delay and stay with you throughout, so you're never navigating that alone. If your birth plans change and hospital is the best place for you and baby this does not mean your home birth has failed. It is important for us to take the appropriate steps to keep you and baby safe, while making sure you remain informed, supported and involved in the decisions around your care.
What equipment do you bring?
I bring everything needed for the birth itself, monitoring equipment, resuscitation equipment for you and baby, and pain relief options, gas and air. You just need to provide the space, I'll guide you on what to prepare beforehand.
Can I have a home birth for my first baby?
Yes, home birth is an option for first-time mothers as well as those who've given birth before.
Do you attend home births with a second midwife?
Yes. I attend every home birth alongside a second qualified midwife, so you always have two experienced professionals with you. This is included as standard in your package price, with no extra cost.
Will my birth partner be involved?
Absolutely. Your birth partner is welcome and encouraged to be as involved as you'd like, whether that's hands-on support, or simply being present with you.
What if I need to transfer to hospital?
If a transfer becomes necessary, I'll arrange the transfer to hospital and come with you, so your care and the relationship we've built continues uninterrupted rather than starting over with unfamiliar staff.
Do you support home births across London, Essex, and Hertfordshire?
Yes, I attend home births across all three areas.
