Antenatal Care with Guided By You Midwifery

Pregnancy is one of the most significant times of your life, and you deserve care that reflects that.

My antenatal appointments are unhurried, relationship-based, and built entirely around you. There's no rushing through a checklist. Instead, we have real time together to talk through how you're feeling, answer every question you have, and make sure you feel genuinely supported at every stage of your pregnancy.

I offer appointments every four weeks until 28 weeks, then every two weeks until 36 weeks, and weekly from there until your baby arrives. Between appointments, I'm also happy to offer video calls if you'd like extra support, whether you're struggling with your mental health, feeling like things are getting on top of you, or you just want to talk something through properly rather than a quick phone call.

Protecting your mental health is something I'm truly passionate about, so wherever I possibly can, I'll make myself available for you, even at short notice, to be the extra support you need.

If you're continuing care with the NHS alongside me, I'll always work my appointments around theirs, so you never have to move an NHS appointment to fit me in.

What's included in your antenatal appointments:

  • Blood pressure monitoring and urine testing

  • Monitoring of your baby's growth and wellbeing

  • Discussion of your scan results and what they mean for you

  • Blood test results explained in full

  • Vaccinations during pregnancy - what's recommended and why

  • Discussions around pregnancy symptoms and how you're feeling

  • Birth planning and preparation for labour

  • Packing your hospital bag - what you actually need

  • Antenatal education at your own pace

  • Safe sleeping and SIDS guidance

  • Infant feeding discussions

  • Emotional support throughout your pregnancy

  • Space to ask questions, share your feelings, and be truly heard

Whether it's your first baby or your fourth, I take the time to get to know you, your partner and your family. My goal is to give you the information, reassurance, and encouragement you need to feel confident and supported as you prepare to meet your baby.

I'm based in Waltham Abbey, Essex and support families across London, Essex, and Hertfordshire, I'd love to be part of your journey.

Antenatal Care: Your Questions Answered

What does private antenatal care actually involve?
You'll have longer, unhurried appointments where we go through everything at your pace, from your health and wellbeing to how you're feeling emotionally about the pregnancy. I'm with you throughout, not just ticking boxes, but genuinely getting to know you and your family.

How is this different from NHS antenatal care?
The biggest difference is continuity. You'll see me at every appointment, not a different midwife each time. Appointments are longer, usually in your own home, and scheduled around what works for you rather than a clinic timetable.

Can I still access NHS care alongside private midwifery?
Yes. Many families combine the two, using private care for the relationship and continuity, while keeping NHS scans, bloods, and hospital birth options open if needed. I can talk you through how this works during a free initial call.

When should I start antenatal care with a private midwife?
Some families get in touch as soon as they get a positive test, others join partway through pregnancy. There's no fixed point, whenever you reach out, we can talk about what fits your situation.

Can I book a one-off private antenatal appointment?

Yes. If you don’t need ongoing private antenatal care but would like some additional support, you can book a one-off private antenatal appointment. This can include a full antenatal check, time to discuss your pregnancy, scan or blood test results, birth planning, preparing for labour, or simply having some extra time to ask questions and receive reassurance.

What happens at the first appointment?
It's really about getting to know each other. We'll talk through your medical history, what you're hoping for from your pregnancy and birth, and I'll answer any questions you have. There's no pressure, it's a conversation, not an assessment.

Do you cover Essex, Hertfordshire, and London?
Yes, I support families across all three areas, travelling to you for appointments wherever that's most comfortable.
