About Me.
Hi, I’m Emma – A private midwife at Private Midwives and founder of Guided By You Midwifery.
My journey into midwifery began after the birth of my third baby. I was lucky enough to receive the most beautiful care from a truly inspiring midwife — and that experience
changed my life. It made me want to become that person for others: someone who offers compassionate, empowering care during one of life’s most incredible moments.
At the age of 46, as a single parent to four wonderful children, I proudly graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Midwifery. It wasn’t the easiest path, but it was driven by pure passion and a deep belief that every woman deserves to feel supported, heard, and safe.
Since qualifying in 2014, I’ve worked across a variety of NHS settings including
Whipps Cross and Princess Alexandra Hospitals, confidently supporting women in
both high-risk and midwifery-led environments. In 2023, I joined the wonderful team at Private Midwives, who are proudly registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and I’ve felt right at home ever since.
I have a particular love for home births, including home birth after caesarean (HBAC), and have cared for many women choosing to birth outside of standard guidelines. I also have experience supporting mothers with complex feeding journeys — including twins and babies with additional needs — and those navigating mental health or social challenges.
In 2022, I was honoured to be the runner-up for South of England’s NHS Midwife of the Year and received an award for Excellence in Care and Professionalism — moments I’ll always treasure.
If you’re looking for kind, personalised, one-to-one midwifery care, I’d love to walk this journey with you. I currently cover Hertfordshire, Essex, Kent, and London — supporting families from pregnancy through birth and into the postnatal period.

At Guided By You Midwifery, I offer a range of one-to-one services designed to support you through every stage of pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenthood.
Whether you're planning a home birth, need antenatal or postnatal care, or simply want continuity and reassurance from a known midwife, I'm here to provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care that’s guided by your needs and choices.
Explore the services below to find out how I can support you and your family.
Pregnancy can be a time of excitement, questions, and sometimes uncertainty. My antenatal care offers you personalised, one-to-one support throughout your pregnancy. Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, I’ll take the time to get to know you and your needs, providing reassurance, evidence-based information, and gentle guidance every step of the way.
Birth is a deeply personal experience, and your choices matter. If you’re feeling unsure or want to explore your options in more detail, I offer gentle, informed guidance to help you feel confident and prepared. Whether you're considering alternative pathways or just want to feel more in control, I’ll support you in creating a plan that reflects your needs, values, and wishes.
Welcoming your baby at home can be a calm, empowering experience. I offer full home birth support, including for those planning a Home Birth After Caesarean (HBAC) or birthing outside of standard guidelines. With experienced, one-to-one care, I create a safe and supportive space for you to birth in your own way, in the comfort of your home.
The early days after birth can be overwhelming, emotional, and deeply transformative. I offer kind, consistent postnatal care to help you and your baby adjust and thrive. Whether you need help with feeding, recovery, emotional wellbeing, or just someone to check in and listen, I’ll be there to support you through this important phase.
If you're planning to give birth in hospital, I can still offer continuity of care during your journey. From preparing for birth through to postnatal support at home, I’ll work alongside your hospital team to ensure you feel informed, respected, and supported throughout. You don’t have to navigate it all alone — I’ll be with you before and after to provide guidance and care.
Every baby is different, and every feeding journey is unique. I offer compassionate, practical support whether you’re breastfeeding, bottle feeding, expressing, or doing a combination. I have experience supporting mothers of twins, babies with additional needs, and those facing feeding challenges. Together, we’ll find a way that works best for you and your baby.
