Fourth Trimester Support

The fourth trimester is a time of huge change physically, emotionally, and mentally. As you recover from birth and adjust to life with your baby, having the right support around you can make all the difference.

At Guided by You Midwifery, I provide personalised postnatal support to help you feel reassured, confident, and cared for during those early weeks. Whether you need guidance with feeding, newborn sleep, emotional well-being, recovery after birth, or someone simply to talk to, I am here to support you every step of the way.

Understanding the Fourth Trimester

The fourth trimester is the period after birth when both you and your baby are adjusting to a completely new way of life. During this time, your body is healing, your emotions can feel heightened, and your baby is learning how to feed, sleep, and settle outside of the womb.

Having continuity of care during this stage can help you feel reassured, informed, and supported as you settle into parenthood.

Physical Recovery After Birth

The early weeks after birth are a time of healing and adjustment. Recovery can take time, both physically and emotionally, and it is important to be gentle with yourself.

Rest, hydration, nourishment, and support all play an important role in helping your body recover after childbirth. Every recovery journey is different, and there is no right or wrong pace.

Emotional Wellbeing and Baby Blues

The postnatal period can bring a wide range of emotions. It is completely normal to feel overwhelmed, tearful, or unsure of yourself in the early days.

Having someone to talk to can make a huge difference. I provide a safe, supportive space where you can talk openly about how you are feeling and receive reassurance without judgment.

Feeding Support

Whether you choose breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or combination feeding, I offer personalised support to help you find what works best for you and your baby.

Feeding can take time to establish and every journey is different. My aim is to help you feel supported, informed, and confident.

Newborn Sleep

Newborn sleep can feel unpredictable and exhausting in the early weeks. I can help you understand what is normal, recognise your baby's cues, and create gentle routines that work for your family.

This stage is temporary, and with the right support, it can begin to feel much more manageable.

Building Confidence as a Parent

Becoming a parent is a huge life change and it is normal to question yourself at times. I can help you build confidence in your instincts, trust your choices, and feel more secure in your new role.

You do not need to have all the answers straight away, support, reassurance, and guidance can make all the difference.

Partner Support and Involvement

Partners go through a huge transition too. I encourage partners to feel involved, supported, and competent in caring for both mum and baby.

Whether it is his feeding, winding, bonding, or understanding the emotional changes after birth, I help partners feel part of the journey too.

Your Postnatal Support Toolkit

My support can include emotional wellbeing, feeding guidance, newborn care advice, recovery support, and practical reassurance during the early weeks.

You're never expected to figure everything out alone. Having personalised support can make this stage feel calmer, more manageable, and far less overwhelming.

Support Every Step of the Way

Whether you need reassurance, practical advice, emotional support, or simply someone to listen? I'm here to support you every step of the way.
